The Slacklining Park is part of the Fletcher Living and Gap Filler Placemaking at One Central Programme. Located at the corner of Worcester St and Rauora Park it is New Zealand's first park of its kind with a fixed line and soft fall pit.
Slacklining is part sport in the form of athletic skill, part recreation, part artform and balancing act. At the park we have a fixed line open to all to try 'slacking' any time. This relatively new sport is a challenging and fun social activity that all ages can try. Older kids may want try solo and younger children enjoy trying with the help of someone holding their hands.
Give it a go. Fix your gaze ahead at something steady and have your arms out and relaxed to tune your balance.
There are other Gap Filler installations as part of the PM@OC programme close by so take opportunity to explore and mix this in with some other fun activities.
