FAQs

When is KidsFest 2017?
KidsFest 2017 runs from Saturday 8 – Saturday 22 July during the Winter school holidays.

Where is KidsFest held?
KidsFest is based in Christchurch, New Zealand and in the adjoining districts of Selwyn and Waimakariri.  Events are held in many venues both indoor and outdoor throughout Canterbury.

When will the brochure be available?
The KidsFest brochure will be available from 1 June 2017. The brochures are distributed throughout primary, intermediate and pre-schools in Christchurch and Central Canterbury. Additional copies will also be available at Christchurch City Libraries, Service Centres and selected retail stores and cafes around the city.

When do tickets go on sale?
Tickets go on sale for all KidsFest events at 9am, 1 June 2017!

Where can I purchase tickets?
KidsFest events are run by many different event providers using different ticketing methods. Booking details for every individual event are specified in the event information for each event listing in the brochure and on the KidsFest website. Many events use Dash Tickets, we do recommend booking online and getting an ‘E-Ticket’ as it’s the cheapest option. You can also purchase Dash ticketed KidsFest events from iSite Kaiapoi and at The Palms Box Office but this is more expensive.

Booking Fees
Most tickets will have a booking fee added which can increase depending on your method of purchase.  Online booking using E-tickets is usually the cheapest. Phone bookings, outlet purchases and couriered tickets can incur extra fees. Dash Tickets is the preferred KidsFest ticket agency – any event using Dash Tickets has subsidised booking fees for KidsFest events. It is up to the event providers how and who they choose to ticket their event.

Does KidsFest happen during other school holidays?
KidsFest is only held every year during the winter school holidays.

Who is Coolstuff?
Coolstuff is KidsFest’s fun loving yellow mascot dog dude. He (or she?) has been seen out and about during KidsFest since 1996. Coolstuff loves to dance and drum but is not so flash at singing. He can also ride a scooter.

How do I register as an event provider?
Event registrations for KidsFest 2017 are now closed. If you would like to apply as an event provider for 2018 contact us via email and we’ll add you to our mailing list and provide further information.

Who produces KidsFest?
KidsFest is proudly produced by the Christchurch City Council on behalf of the KidsFest Charitable Trust. The majority of the events within the KidsFest programme are independently produced and run by many different event organisations, businesses and groups within the community. Christchurch City Council also produces a few key events within the programme.
