Celebrate the end of KidsFest 2018
for caregivers (required)
Ages: All ages
For our 10th year of the More FM Mata Riki KidsFest Parade we're taking an exciting exploratory night time journey through central Christchurch from Cathedral Square to The Terraces around the Ōtākaro/Avon River Precinct. The meaning of Mata Riki is Little Faces and is connected with celebrating the Maori New Year - the perfect match for the KidsFest Parade.
Gather in Cathedral Square from 4:30pm for some nosh from the food trucks, be entertained by musicians then join the parade or watch from the side on it's route to the Terraces via the Bridge of Remembrance where the More FM crew will be giving out free hot chocolate (first in, first served). There'll be more entertainment and a finale Kids Disco to an amazing light show. Get creative for spot prizes - Pimp Your Pushchairs, make a lantern, wearable light art or even torches.
Dress up warm!
Parade departs Cathedral Square at 5.30pm sharp.
NB - There will be rolling closures as the Parade passes through Hereford Street in the central city.
Roads will reopen once the parade has passed through. Please be aware of traffic when leaving the area after the parade.
Please see the route map in the event images for more information.
